Inspired by a brooch made in the craft-filigree, in the early 1900s. and discovered in the 1950s. that is how the story of our butterfly begins. It already became undoubted possession of anybody that lived on this soil. The jewelry was worn for ornamentation, protection, to point out the privileged status. MONASTERY OF ST. ATHANASIUS, LESOK XIV C.

St. Athanasius or just old monastery was a major former monastery church in the village of Lesok, Tetovo. The monastery church was built in the 14th century, was built in the style of the oldest churches in Ohrid and Prespa. Built by the first Bishop Joannicius. By studying the base and the façade has been established that the church comes from the 6th century. The church has small remains of frescoes from the 14th century. MEDALLION, Guriste, R. Macedonia - XIV c.

Decoration of costumes is an old tradition, especially at the front of the chest. This golden XIV ct. Medallion has been discovered at the Guriste archeological site – St. Nikole. This rare example with playful shape, is being connected with the figure of Maria Palaiologos, to whom it probably belonged. EARRINGS ORIZARI, XIV C.

The practice of presenting eagles in religious and secular material culture in Macedonia is widely spread in the medieval period. There exist a large repertoire of depictions of these birds on jewelry, especially on some luxurious specimens of earrings. These are discovered in the site near Orizari Kocani and are dated in XIV ct. And probably represent grave offering. Whether their depiction was result of fashion, religious or hierarch signalization, still it should be noted, that mid-century jewelry in general could indicate a corporation membership. EARRINGS DOVES, TREBENISTE III-II BC
